Hegarty’s altered clipper ship painting with half of the ship turning skeletal at a fabricated water-line hangs adjacent to seemingly water damaged hand painted imitation Chinoiserie wallpaper. Along with Shipwrecked Armoire with Barnacles, the work alludes to the repressed histories of colonialism including Orientalism, opium dens, pirates and human cargo.
