The three Maine heads were conceived for a three-person show in Portland, Maine with the painters Jeane Cohen and Peter Burns. Maine Head: Earth is a head shape encrusted with sculptures of shells, pebbles, lizards, moths, butterflies, snakes and frogs that are found in the Northeast and recall my childhood summers in Maine playing in the woods and on the shore of a lake. I wanted them to appear like shipwrecked relics with the flotsdam of my early Maine memories.
