Squeezed Landscape

A loose copy of an Albrecht Bierstadt waterfall painting was rendered in underglaze on a clay form of a squeezed painting. After firing the ceramic painting, the undulating form appears similar to an hourglass or a women's figure. Pinched in its mid-section, the sculpture points to our squeezing the environment of all its resources while the hourglass figure references time running out and the control of women's bodies conflated with the landscape.
