The "Covid Diairies" series are works based on my journal entries during the past eight months and counting. In the series, mundane daily chores in isolation in my apartment collide with catastrophic world news.
This piece was created during months of protesting against the police's systemic racism and brutality towards people of color ignited by the death of George Floyd. There is a metaphoric meltdown of democracy with the cake burning in the oven, which causes the teapot to reach a boiling point.
