Taking into account the existing architecture of Smack Mellon gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Valerie Hegarty creates an illusion of a tree branch breaking through the back brick wall of the gallery. In “Break-through”, the branch becomes the instigator for the collapse of the brick wall when an element from the exterior is brought through to the interior with the finesse of the artist’s hand.
